Cycle Tour Highlights
- A historic expedition following in the footsteps of the early gold miners – you can still see their stone huts built into the steep canyon walls.
- Learn the history of the area and imagine what life was like for the early pioneers in this harsh landscape. Throw in the odd tale of murder and intrigue and you've got an experience not to be missed!
- Enjoy a thrilling jet boat ride through the central gorge of New Zealand's largest river.
- Fully supported – you tour guide will take you to the trails, get you up set up on your bike and explain where to go. Then you enjoy the ride at your own pace.
- All inclusive – everything is included in the price except drinks at cafes and restaurants.
What’s Included & Not Included
Included:
- 3 days riding on the Clutha Gold and Roxburgh Gorge cycle trails.
- 2 nights’ accommodation at boutique B&B, lodge or cottage.
- Pick-up and drop-off from your hotel in Queenstown and all transport on tour.
- Your choice of a latest technology high performance e-bike, or mountain bike at no extra cost. E-bikes are subject to availability so please book early.
- Jet boat ride through the Roxburgh Gorge.
- Meals included:
- Day 1: Dinner
- Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Day 3: Breakfast and lunch
- All meals are high quality with fresh local produce. Lunches may include either cafés or picnics (depending on weather).
- Our expert local tour leaders provide insight and background on the areas you visit and show you how to use your bicycle and equipment.
- Full vehicle support - in case you ever want to take a break from riding or skip a section.
- Snacks are provided on the trails – fresh fruit, nuts, and chocolates/candy/biscuits. You will not go hungry!
- Drinks provided on the trail – tea, coffee and water.
Excluded:
- Any drinks in restaurants or cafés.
Clutha Canyon Combo Tour Itinerary
- Day 1 – Pick-up from your accommodation in Queenstown. Scenic drive to the Clutha Gold trail. 2 hrs riding to your lodge accommodation for a shower and a hearty meal.
- Day 2 – Today we finish off the Clutha Gold, stopping for a picnic or café lunch along the way. The trail ends at the foot of the Roxburgh Dam. Depending on time, we can head for a lovely walk with scenic views.
- Day 3 – From high above the dam, you ride into the Roxburgh Gorge on a spectacular path. The trail comes to an end at a jetty from where you take a jet boat ride through the central canyon. Back on your bikes, you continue on the Millenium trail to one of NZ’s most impressive feats of engineering - the Clyde Dam. After a final celebratory lunch at Clyde, we deliver you back into Queenstown in the afternoon.
Options
- You can choose between a high performance e-bike (subject to availability) or mountain bike or at no extra cost. Both are excellent but the e-bike is easier!
- Pick-up/drop-off from alternate locations can be arranged upon request. We attempt to accommodate all requests but depending on the location, this may involve some additional cost.
- Private itineraries can be arranged for groups. Price will be subject to availability of accommodation and number of people booking. Please let us know your dates and requirements and we’ll do all the organising for you.

- We need a minimum of 4 booked places to guarantee departure. If we have to cancel the tour, you will be refunded your deposit in full.
